SYNOPSIS

In his latest documentary, filmmaker Mosco Levi Boucault explores the figure of Don Juan. Born as a carnival character, a lover of love and a collector of women, Don Juan inspired Molière and Mozart, was celebrated in the 19th century, and his widely condemned today. The facts are indisputable: he betrays, deceives, lies, transgresses, rapes, kills, and refuses all repentance in the name of his freedom. Yet Don Juan continues to “resurrect” and haunt our imagination. Not a year goes by without a theatre or opera house bringing him back to the stage, rekindling fascination and raising a persistent, unavoidable question: can one be both a predator and a champion of freedom?
