{"id":1019,"date":"2017-08-04T18:12:40","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T17:12:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebureaufilms.com\/london\/?p=1019"},"modified":"2019-04-30T16:29:44","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T15:29:44","slug":"best-performance-award-win-for-daphne-at-eiff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebureaufilms.com\/london\/festivals\/best-performance-award-win-for-daphne-at-eiff\/","title":{"rendered":"EIFF Best Performance Award for Daphne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The award for Best Performance in a British Feature Film went jointly to actresses Emily Beecham for her role in\u00a0<strong><em>Daphne<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and Anne Reid for her roles in\u00a0<strong><em>Kaleidoscope<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><em>Romans<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em>\u00a0and was also selected by the Michael Powell jurors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Michael Powell<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Jury said<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the category of Best Performance in a British Feature Film, the Michael Powell Jury recognises two actors, Emily Beecham and Anne Reid, portraying fascinating, complex and flawed characters who didn&#8217;t strive for your affection but commanded your attention &#8211; real in the best sense of the word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a><strong>Emily Beecham said:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m so honoured and thrilled, and would really like to thank the jury and the Edinburgh International Film Festival for supporting our film. It was an extraordinary experience working on the unique and special\u00a0<strong><em>Daphne<\/em><\/strong>. I wouldn&#8217;t have won this award without my wonderful team: Director Peter Mackie Burns, writer Nico Mensinga and producers Tristan Goligher and Valentina Brazzini! Thanks again EIFF, having once been a festival Trailblazer you have a very special place in my heart!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robbie Allan, Senior Screen Executive at Creative Scotland said:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted that Emily\u2019s outstanding performance as\u00a0<strong><em>Daphne<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0has been recognised by the jury.
